Creating & Using Labels

Labels help you organize the companies and contacts in your network the way you actually think about them, not the way a generic dataset does.
Instead of relying only on Lev's built-in lender data, labels let you create your own categories like "Active Retail Lenders," "West Coast Sponsors," or "Do Not Contact," and then use those labels to find the right people when you launch deals.

How Labels Are Created & Organized

Labels are organized into Label Groups. A group is essentially a field where you can create and manage a set of labels, such as a Label Group for Asset Type which contains a Label for any Asset Type you want to be able to tag a Company or Contact with.
You can create as many groups as you'd like, and the individual labels are totally up to you to create! We'll automatically create four label groups for you by default:
  • Geography: For state-based labels like Florida, city labels like Miami, regional labels like South East, or all of the above!
  • Asset Type: For labels like Industrial, Retail, or Golf Course.
  • Loan Type: For labels like Refinance, Bridge, or Permanent.
  • Custom: For anything you might want to track. You could create a blacklist label, a favorite label, a This is my favorite Lender label — truly it is totally up to you.
You can add, rename, and shape labels and label-groups based on your workflow. Each Label Group can have a custom icon that will show wherever that field is shown, and each label can have a custom color. You can even include emojis 🔥!

Where You Can Use Labels

Each label group is essentially a field for the Contacts & Companies in your Network. In the Network Tables, each Label Group is a column in the table. On a specific Company or Contact Page, each label shows as an editable field below their name and logo.
This means you can tag Contacts and Companies in your CRM while you are browsing your full network table, or while you are looking at a specific record.
From the Labels Dropdown (which is the same on every page), you can:
  • Assign a Label by clicking on it
  • Remove a Label that is already applied by clicking it off
  • Create New Labels by typing and clicking "Create +"
Your full set of Labels works across both Contacts & Companies — of any type. You can apply the same Labels to Lenders and Sponsors, and more contact and company types are coming soon.
Important
You can only apply labels to connected Contacts and Companies — meaning the ones in your Network. If you are viewing a Lender from the directory, you have to add them to your Network before applying a Label.

Bulk Applying Labels

Nobody wants to manually apply labels 1 by 1 through your whole Network. Lev offers Past-Deal Filters as a way to filter to a very specific set of Contacts or Companies so you can apply labels in bulk! Learn how to bulk apply labels using past deal data.

Creating Your Own Custom Label Groups

In addition to the default four groups, you can create your own custom label groups to match your process.
Some examples:
  • Relationship Status: Lead, Favorite, Do Not Contact
  • Loan Amount Range: 0–5MM, 5–25MM, 25MM+
  • Priority: High, Medium, Low
When you add a new group, it becomes another column in your Companies and Contacts tables, so it stays usable everywhere you work.
